Brace yourselves guys for another truly terrible photo, I know I’m not really making much of an effort with this feature am I? To be honest, I wasn’t going to post this at all, but as Mental Health Awareness has come to an end, I figured why not.
On Wednesday, 16th, half way through Mental Health Awareness Week, the girls at work and I took part in a campaign being hosted by Funky Pigeon, yes the card makers, they had created and decided to host Rainbow Day, a day in which everyone was encouraged to turn up to work in rainbow clothes, this was to raise awareness of mental health after one of their team had fallen ill with post natal depression. And well, mental ill health isn’t anything new to me. People who know me irl, or have been following this blog for a while will know about my myriad of mental health problems. So, naturally, I went as all out as I could.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, I wanted to change up the story a bit.
By now, we should all be aware of mental health and how someone having a mental health issue doesn’t make them a bad person or a need to be segregated. We all know having a mental illness is pretty much the same as having diabetes. It is a health condition that should be taken seriously. This week, I wanted to focus on the awareness of mental health services and how terrible they are. Seriously, they’re pretty rubbish.
Mental Health Awareness Week might be over for another year, but mental illness continues to exist and the service provided to people who need help will not get better until we make enough of a fuss about it. So, let’s keep shouting eh?
This outfit is all kinds of ridiculous, but I’ll talk you through it anyway…
